Biological Services Unit

The Biological Services Unit was subject to a full overhaul and upgrade to bring it up to the current Home Office standards.

The existing autoclave was subject of a full refurbishment whilst bottle/ cage wash facilities were replaced. The works was ordered directly from the client with H&V co-ordinating and managing this element.

The building fabric was replaced with new vinyl flooring, and the walls and ceiling were finished in White Rock.

The services were completely replaced. New power distribution was provided along with new lighting, data, voice, and fire alarm.

New domestic water services were supplied via new cold-water booster sets and new HWS PHE. A new external chiller was provided along with new supply air handling unit and twin extractor fan all located within a new external plant compound.

The existing Steam Plant Room was fully upgraded with new plant, equipment and distribution pipework.

Pipework and ductwork distribution from the plant into the space was provided along with stainless steel exhaust canopy. New trend BMS system was designed, supplied and installed.

The BSU facility was in full occupation whilst the works were undertaken. The sensitive nature of the facility, along with the fact that all cleaning was being outsourced, meant the project was completed under a very tight and carefully planned programme.

Upon completion of all installation works, the systems were fully tested, commissioned and handed over with success.
