Fall Back Centre, Cooling Project

Stratford Fire Station/Fall Back Centre is the main 999 Communications backup centre for the London Fire Brigade.

With life-critical consequences, this project had to be carefully planned and managed to ensure cooling was available and the Communications Room was kept operational at all times.

The various existing ad hoc DX refrigeration systems were replaced with a new Denco close control cooling system made up of 2 zones incorporating 4 CCU’s, using refrigerant cooling and a ductwork distribution and recirculation system.

Due to spatial constraints, the units had to be installed onto bespoke framework/low-level duct systems.

The adjacent Computer Room DX split system was also replaced with a Mitsubishi DX system. This system consisted of 3no. twin splits to operate based on duty load when occupied.

A new dedicated Trend BMS controls system was installed, along with a dedicated manual changeover power supply to ensure a constant supply was available to run independently from the rest of the building in the event of a power failure.
